Q&A - Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about switching to solar and our financing options.
Financing
Q:How does the 'Pay as You Save' model work?
Our financing allows you to install a solar system with a deposit, then pay the balance in monthly installments. The goal is for your monthly payment to be similar to or less than your previous KPLC bill, essentially paying for the system with your savings.
Q:What is the typical repayment period?
Repayment periods typically range from 12 to 36 months for residential systems, and up to 60 months for large-scale commercial installations, depending on the chosen partner and system size.
Technical
Q:What is the difference between On-grid, Off-grid, and Hybrid systems?
On-grid systems are connected to the utility and don't use batteries. Off-grid systems are entirely independent. Hybrid systems (which we recommend for most Kenyans) combine both, providing backup power during blackouts while still staying connected to the grid.
Q:How long do the solar panels and batteries last?
Our Tier-1 Mono panels come with a 25-year performance warranty. Lithium-ion batteries typically last 10-15 years (6,000+ cycles), which is significantly longer than traditional lead-acid batteries.
